University of Birmingham – Molecular Sciences
The University of Birmingham Molecular Sciences building provides advanced research, teaching and laboratory facilities requiring precise environmental control. Robell Control Systems designed, supplied and installed a Building Management System supporting specialist ventilation, laboratory infrastructure and energy-efficient building operation.
The challenge
Laboratory environments require highly reliable ventilation and environmental control to maintain safe operating conditions whilst supporting research and teaching activities. Integrating multiple specialist systems demanded a coordinated Building Management System strategy.
Our approach
Robell Control Systems delivered an integrated Building Management System controlling heating, chilled water, air handling units, air source heat pumps, fume extraction and local variable air volume controllers. Manual override functionality was incorporated to provide additional resilience for critical ventilation systems.
The outcome
Robell Control Systems successfully delivered a specialist Building Management System providing dependable environmental control, operational resilience and energy-efficient performance across a modern university science facility.
Scope of works
Building Management System Design, Control Panel Design & Manufacture, BMS Installation, BMS Commissioning, Air Source Heat Pump Controls, Air Handling Unit Controls, Laboratory Ventilation Controls, Fume Extract Controls, Variable Air Volume Controls.
